(The Prattville Dragoons) – Members and friends of SCV Camp 1524 formed a team to compete in the first annual Alabama Division Sons of Confederate Veterans clays tournament at Barrett Field in Cullman AL on Saturday morning January 13th. It was a cold morning but everyone had fun at the range. There were about twenty five shooters and entry fees paid helped sponsor a youth team at the state championships. The Dragoons went by the camp name for their team name as that was appropriate. Member Philip Edwards was the team captain and recruited for the team which consisted also of member Todd Rogers and friends/compatriots Buddy Hoff, Lee James and Scott Thibodeaux. That was more than a few years ago. The change in my outlook was gradual, but really solidified over the past few years. In my mind, the Trump presidency was a Hail Mary for saving the United States in which I grew up, and the failed promise of his miracle ascendancy was a splash of ice cold water on my already waning enthusiasm for politics. I understand now that politics is as fake as wresting or “reality” TV, but with a much more sinister purpose, so I try to tune out the whole perverse display as much as possible. (WLOS) – The city of Asheville’s purchase of five electric buses in 2018 has turned into a multi-million-dollar loss. The buses have been broken or unable to run because of software and/or mechanical issues, making them an expensive and disappointing purchase, according to city maintenance and transportation staff.

Currently, three of the five buses are idled, with one that has had a broken double door since July.

“We haven’t been able to get new doors,” Asheville’s interim transportation director Jessica Morriss said. “There’s no third party that makes a door. We’d have to get custom-made doors.”

(Daily Signal) – Law-abiding Americans increasingly are convinced that their government views them as an enemy, perhaps even a “domestic terrorism threat.”A newly unearthed video may confirm those fears.

Bureaucrats in numerous federal agencies apparently tag-teamed with the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that demonizes conservatives and Christians, including groups such as Alliance Defending Freedom and Moms for Liberty, in order to raise money and silence political opponents.

The federal bureaucrats reached out to the SPLC, which conservatives criticize as a far-left smear factory, as they planned to combat “the domestic terrorism threat.”

I’ve long raised the alarm about the SPLC, which gained its reputation by suing the Ku Klux Klan into bankruptcy and then weaponized that program against conservatives. Today, the center maintains a “hate map” plotting mainstream conservative and Christian groups alongside KKK chapters. (WTOP News) -In 1953, the City of Alexandria in Virginia adopted an ordinance that said streets running in North-South directions had to be named for Confederate military leaders. But now, some of the street names that resulted from that ordinance will be changed.

“We named streets and other contexts, we named parks,” said city council woman Sarah Bagley, who serves on the Naming Committee. “And so I took up what I saw as the mayor’s charge to us that we should be leading this effort with public feedback.”

The name change proposal came about last year from Mayor Justin Wilson. There are at least 41 streets in Alexandria that are associated with Confederate military members.

(WTGS) – The Savannah Police Department is investigating an act of vandalism after the Confederate Monument in Forsyth Park was defaced early Sunday morning.

According to SPD, officers responded to the statue at 1:26 p.m. Monday and observed the defaced monument that was spray-painted on all sides with graffiti stating, “Free Palestine,” “No Christmas,” “Free Gaza,” and ” No Bethlehem.”

Savannah Police say the incident occurred at 1:05 a.m. Sunday morning.

A request to wash away the graffiti has been filed, according to police.

(Natural News) – Critics are skewering the World Health Organization for using climate scare tactics to convince the world that avoiding meat is in the planet’s best interest.

The head of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom, said at the recent COP28 conference that the world should shift to a plant-based diet in order to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.

“Our food systems are harming the health of our people and planet,” he said. “Food systems contribute to over 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions and account for almost one-third of the global burden of disease.”

He estimates that eight million lives could be saved each year with this one change.
